      Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence

Sundance is very fortunate to be a grant recipient of the Arizona Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Center.   The five-year grant was awarded to Sundance this summer, and the Aztec PRIDE Academy began in October.  As we continue to develop our program, we will provide more student, community and family involvement.

The Academy’s first session (Oct. 3- Jan. 26) is currently serving about 150 students in after and before school learning opportunities.  It serves students who may need extra support in ELA or Math, as well as students involved in Teen Leadership, Sports, and Clubs.   We currently have a waiting list for students.

Students who attend at least two days of tutoring are also eligible for our fun Enrichment classes.  Sundance Staff and the City of Peoria instruct these high-interest courses.  This session, we offered the following classes:

      • Kitchen Kadets
      • Music Bus
      • Water Wizards
      • Sculpture
      • Math Counts
      • Sports and Fitness
      • Stepping out Dance
      • Fly Guy
      • Legos
      • The Good News Club
      • Brain Games
      • Crafty Creations

The K-6 Computer Lab is open each morning and afternoon (Mon.-Thurs.) for students and parents to drop in to use the computers.  The hours are:

      • Monday – Thursday (when school is in session):    7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.  and   3:15 p.m. – 4: 20 p.m.

We will also be offering FREE Adult and Teen Zumba on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the MPR.  Adults and students 13 and over may attend.  Students must be accompained by an adult.
