2020 Census Make it count

The 2020 Census count impacts the over $700 billion in federal funds that communities receive each year for programs and services that are critical for schools, students, and younger children.

In Peoria Unified, those funds are used every year for critical programs and services including:

Special education

Title l staff and programs

After-school programs

Food assistance, including free and reduced-price meals

Preschool and summer school

Child health programs

Census data is also used to determine where roads, hospitals, childcare centers, and other services should be built, as well as being used for the apportionment of Congressional seats and redistricting.
