Family Resource Center
The Peoria Unified School District has partnered with First Things First to provide families with three Resource Centers.
The centers are designed to provide FREE resources and referrals, and programming for families with children age birth to five-years-old (not yet in Kindergarten). Resources and referrals include, but are not limited to, health care, SNAP/AHCCCS/KidsCare, oral screenings, food & clothing assistance, and child care. Programming includes activities for children, as well as workshops and trainings for parents and caregivers. The overall goal of the Family Resource Centers is to strengthen families and help children arrive at kindergarten ready to succeed.
Funding for the Family Resource Centers comes from the Family Support Strategy of First Things First and focuses on strengthening families with young children and preparing them for kindergarten. Strong families are the building blocks of strong communities; it is critical parents have the necessary resources and tools to provide their children with stable nurturing environments especially in the earliest years.
