Last November, Superintendent Dr. KC Somers launched Somers' Spotlight, an all-new employee recognition program that gives parents the opportunity to recognize Peoria Unified staff's commitment to every student, every day.

Mr. Lyman Akers, IB Theatre and Drama teacher, continually encourages students to be and do their very best. Often supporting students from freshman year through graduation, Mr. Akers is known as a constant source of confidence for his students.

His nominator shared, "My son started taking Mr. Akers class during his freshman year. Mr. Akers brought him out of his shell and allowed him to be confident in himself."
