Last November, Superintendent Dr. KC Somers launched Somers' Spotlight, an all-new employee recognition program that gives parents the opportunity to recognize Peoria Unified staff's commitment to every student, every day.
At Oakwood Elementary, Heather Stumbaugh, a third grade teacher, was honored for her kind, steady presence. Parents describe her as the perfect combination of love and firm direction, always keeping her students at the center of all she does.
Her nominator shared, "she can identify each child's unique characteristics, meet them where they are and guide them to where they need to be."
