Student Achievements

    • Jillian Wright from Sunrise Mountain High School was a National Merit Semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
    • Peoria City Council recognized Vistancia Elementary School’s Iron Pans Steel Drum Band for playing outside of Washington D.C. at the National Blue Ribbon Ceremony.
    • Centennial High School’s Zero Robotics team “Space Linguine” won an international competition through developing software that controls satellite speed, rotation, and direction of travel. During the competition, Brandon Hang, Trevor Garner, Brian Bi, and Garrett Rioux, and their advisor Dianna Denton, used the software to program their satellite to complete game objectives.
    • Daniel Nguyen from Liberty High School was awarded the prestigious Flinn Scholarship. Daniel Nguyen plans to major in Molecular Biology and eventually become a trauma surgeon.
    • MET student Zachary O’Donnell won first place for the ASU Engineering Projects in Community Service and Cisco Internet of Everything Challenge for his drone project developed to assist police and first responders to scout emergency situations via drone surveillance. He received $5,000 for his award-winning project.
    • Peoria Unified School District’s graduating class of 2017 secured over $64 million in scholarships to post-secondary institutions.
    • Cactus High School’s robotics club completed in the World Championships.
    • Liberty High School’s culinary arts students, Tyler Wells and Mike Mengelkamp, under the direction of Jeff Stanhill, won the Scottsdale Culinary Festival.
    • Galadriel Coury, a junior at Ironwood High School, who is a second year FBLA state officer, will be serving as the 2017-19 VP of Chapter Development.
    • Lana Mohammad, a senior at Centennial High School, who is also a second year FBLA state officer, will be serving as the 2017-18 State President.
    • Daniel Martinez, a senior from Centennial High School, will be serving on the DECA leadership team.
