School & Staff Recognitions

    • Melissa Shaver and Cheryl Mertz from Desert Harbor Elementary and Jean Cole from Frontier Elementary recently received the first ever Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Teacher Impact Grant. The grant directly funds teacher leadership initiatives at their schools.
    • Sara Chowdhury and Annie Grove, two Peoria Unified teachers, were recognized at the ADE Early Childhood Special Education Summit for inclusive practices that have positively impacted the education programs of children with disabilities in the state.
    • Kristen Kaus, a science teacher from Cactus High School, and Darell Kidd, and Engineering teacher at the MET Professional Academy, were awarded the Arizona-Nevada Academy of Science Leadership in Science Education award. This award recognizes outstanding teachers for their exceptional leadership in science education.
    • Cactus High School varsity football team, Coach Larry Fetkenhier was selected to the National High School Athletic Coaches Association’s National Hall of Fame.
    • Mr. Wooten, principal at Raymond S. Kellis High School, was named a 2015-16 Distinguished High School Administrator from the Arizona School Administrators Association.
    • Bartt Underwood, softball coach at Cactus High School, was inducted into the Arizona High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame.
    • Mark Wood from Liberty High School was selected by the AIA as the 5A conference basketball coach of the year.
    • Copperwood Elementary School was named an  A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation.
    • Country Meadows was visited by Flip Flippen, Founder of the Flippen group, and received a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School award for2015-16.
    • Santa Fe Elementary School and Marshall Ranch Elementary school received the coveted A+ School of Excellence from the Arizona Educational Foundation.
