Multi-Tiered System of Support
Tier 3: The Safety Net

When there are circumstances effecting students’ social emotional well-being that go beyond the scope of the school, a communal response is needed. Peoria Unified School District is dedicated to working with community partners toting our students support our students within the social emotional process. Our Safety Net is linked to committed social services agencies, caring faith communities and vetted mental and behavioral health services connected to provide a safe and gentle handoff for our students and families.
Every Student, Every Day

1. Child Study Team
The process to support students within special education services will be available as a Tier III level of support.

2. Referral to Outside Agencies
Student Support Teams will work with families to identify specific and qualified social service and mental health agencies to assist in the social emotional support of their student.

Support from Local and District Administration and Community Partners
Peoria Unified School District wants to ensure every teacher has access to local administration, district and community support. Having district and local administration, as well as the community partners trained in the Peoria Unified SEL Model will provide a practical framework that teachers can utilize to seek out support. The Collaborative for Academic and Social Emotional Learning states, “SEL is a process, not a program. Because of this, it is important to infuse SEL into the way that districts and schools carry out their mission. SEL thrives only when there is a commitment to it throughout the district”.

Peoria Unified School District will work to create partnerships that support students and families. Parents/Guardians will receive outside resource referrals that support students and families within the areas of social, emotional, cultural, economic and legal concerns.
