2025 Summer EdCamp FAQs

Who can participate?
Posted by:Any student aged 5 years old and up, entering Kindergarten to 8th grade that is VERIFIED AS ENROLLED in a PUSD school for the 2025-2026 school year.

How do I register?
Posted by:All registrations are completed online at www.peoriaunified.org/registeronline

What are the hours and locations?
Posted by:Our program runs M- F, 6 AM to 6 PM, except on noted holidays/closures (July 4th). EdCamp locations are Foothills, Frontier, and Desert Valley.

Is food provided or do I need to provide food for my child?
Posted by:Breakfast, Lunch, and an AM and PM snack are all included at no additional cost to all students, but students can bring their own food is preferred. Students should bring a water bottle every day. If a sack lunch is needed, there will be prior notification.

What is the cost?
Posted by:For ONE student the cost is $44.00 per day. For families with multiple children the cost will be full price for the first child and a 15% discounted rate for each additional child thereafter.

When are payments due?
Posted by:Payments are due every Friday for the upcoming week. If a payment is late, this could result in your child’s contract being removed.

Where do I pay my weekly payment?
Posted by:- Payments can be made online through your account at www.peoriaunified.org/registeronline. Payments can also be made in person during office hours at the KidZone Desert Valley office, the Skyview Preschool office, and the district office.

Will there be field trips?
Posted by:Yes. The Summer EdCamp program will plan weekly events both on campus and off campus, with signed permission slips, all at no additional cost. For any extra money needed (optional Harkins snack combo pack) we will notify the parents in advance. For the off-campus field trips, students will need to be at the site 30 minutes prior to departure in order to participate and will need to wear the KidZone shirt that will be provided. If students have not arrived in time to depart, they will not be allowed to stay as we will not have staff left on campus. Students are welcome to join us once we have returned from the field trip. Students cannot be dropped off at the field trip location.

Can my student bring items from home?
Posted by:No, it is not recommended that students bring in any belongings as there will be plenty of materials and activities provided in each classroom.

Does my child have to be a Peoria Unified student?
Posted by:Yes. All children attending Summer EdCamp must be currently enrolled in a Peoria Unified elementary school.

How old does my child have to be?
Posted by:All children attending Summer EdCamp must be at least 5 years old. In addition, children must be enrolled for kindergarten-8th grade for the 2024-2025 school year.

Is transportation provided for any children?
Posted by:No, parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from the Summer EdCamp location

If my child misses a day due to illness, suspension, or change in schedule, can I receive a refund?
Posted by:Refunds/credits will not be given for any missed/sick days.

Does my child need to be potty trained?
Posted by:Yes. Our program is not licensed for diapering. All students must be potty trained.

Can I have someone under the age of 18 years old pick my child up from camp?
Posted by:No. It is our policy that someone at least 18 years old sign students out of Summer EdCamp. In addition, they must be listed on the Emergency Blue Card authorized pick up list that is entered in at time of registration, and show proof of ID

How can I change my scheduled days?
Posted by:Changes can be made through your account online at www.peoriaunified.org/registeronline. Changes must be made by Tuesday for the upcoming week..

My child takes daily medicine, is this allowed at the EdCamp location?
Posted by:Yes, with a fully completed medicine consent form signed and provided to the site with medicine in an original labeled bottle.

Is there any scholarships or assistance to families for help with the cost?
Posted by:We do accept families on DES Assistance. A parent or guardian will need to notify their case worker to approve the site, then our office will contact the family with the out-of-pocket cost.

How are classrooms broken into age groups?
Posted by:It is based on enrollment numbers, but classrooms are typically sorted into a younger room of roughly Kinder-2nd grade, and an older room of roughly 3rd-8th grade. This is subject to change.

What kinds of things will my child do/learn while at camp?
Posted by:We will have weekly themes that the staff will plan around. A day might consist of the following: centers, group games, crafts, science experiments, weeklong projects, gross motor play, story time, quiet time, tech time, in house field trips/vendors, off campus field trips… and much more.

What if my child attends the June summer school program?
Posted by:Students may attend EdCamp after their summer school program. Transportation may be provided from some locations.

How many children per classroom?
Posted by:We are capping each class size to approximately 25 students.
