Our District is A Rated!
Peoria Unified celebrates the release of school letter grades for its 42 graded schools, with 95 percent, or 40 schools, receiving an A or B label. This means that Peoria Unified is once again an A-Rated School District!

Clear Bag Guidelines
In alignment with many other of our peer school districts, Peoria Unified will implement a requirement that only clear bags may be used at all after-school sports and extracurricular events held at any Peoria Unified high school beginning in 2024-25 school year. Using clear bags enhances safety measures which is a shared responsibility for everyone who attends district’s events at our high schools. It will also streamline the entry process for guests attending these events.

2024 Bond Election
On May 9, 2024, the Governing Board voted to follow the recommendation of the Citizens’ Advisory Committee to call for a $120 million bond authorization in the 2024 General Election. If approved, the bond is not expected to be a tax rate increase. The estimated average tax rate for the proposed new bonds is $.27 per $100 of limited assessed valuation. If approved, the combined tax rate of outstanding and new bonds is estimated to be $.57 per $100 of limited assessed valuation, which is not a tax rate increase from the current year. Update on Support for Students
In Peoria Unified, we have always had a commitment to supporting every student so they can best be prepared to learn. Recently, there have been discussions in our community about the specific supports we provide to students so they can achieve their fullest academic potential. Given the increased public interest, and some misinformation circulating on this topic, the district is committed to transparency and clarifying the facts related to the current status of our student supports and how they are funded.

Peoria Unified Implements Bond Refunding to Benefit Community Taxpayers
At the March 14, 2024, Governing Board meeting, the Peoria Unified Governing Board voted 4-0 to approve the district to pursue a bond refunding related to prior bond sales in 2012, 2013 and 2014 that have become callable for early redemption.

Peoria Unified Students Showcase Patriotism in 37th Annual Speech Contest
Elementary students from across the district competed in the 37th Annual Patriotic Speech Contest. These students competed in front of their peers at their school sites earlier in the spring semester and advanced to the district level competition where they delivered their presentation in front of an esteemed group of judges.
