On December 6th-10th our RSKHS visual artists traveled to New York City for an arts appreciation field trip. The students explored a variety of artistic, cultural, and historical locations as well as events. A few highlights included the Metropolitan Museum of Art one of the largest art museums in the world. The students also had the opportunity to visit the Whitney Museum which showcases only American Artists, there they saw original work by Georgia O’keeffe, Edward Hopper, and Roy Lichtenstein. A few other historical stops on our tour of the city included 9-11 memorial, Ground Zero, as well as Wall Street and the Statue of Liberty. Fortunately, the weather was cold with no sign of snow. The art and architect of the city left quite an impression on our very talented and ambitious RSK artists.
