Are you in need of a summer program for your child? Adding structure to your child’s summer activities is important for continued educational success throughout the year. Peoria Unified offers Summer EdCamp for all 2019-20 enrolled students, regardless of which home school they attend.
Summer EdCamp, located at Desert Valley, Foothills and Frontier elementary school, allows students to participate in fun and engaging activities, making learning exciting over the summer months. It is available 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, from May 29 through July 31.
At Summer EdCamp, students are placed into classrooms based on their grade level. During the week, your child will participate in on-site and off-site field trips which include: Arizona Science Center, Peter Piper Pizza, Uptown Jungle, Bowling, the Be Kind Crew, Mad Science, and more! Your child can also participate in on-site enrichment classes and activities focusing on students’ gross motor activities, art activities, science exploration, collaborative challenges and story time. Students visit the computer lab and they work on other fun projects related to the theme of the week. Bi-weekly field trips to Harkins Theatres will also be offered to students.
In addition to activities, breakfast is provided each day and Summer EdCamp hosts a free summer lunch program for your child to enjoy. A morning and afternoon snack will also be provided daily.
You can register and pay online on the district’s website and pick your child’s schedule. Fees depend upon how many days your child will attend the summer program and are outlined on the website at www.peoriaunified.org/summer.
Additionally, Peoria Unified is adding a Preschool Summer EdCamp for four-year-olds at Desert Valley and Frontier Elementary Schools. More information on how to register for Preschool EdCamp can be found on the website.
