Schools pay tribute to 9/11

Peoria Unified School District paid tribute to those individuals affected by the tragedy that took place on September 11, 2001 by holding commemorative events throughout the district.


Desert Harbor Elementary School held the seventh annual “Walk of Honor”. Police, fire, military and emergency service personnel were invited. The morning announcements included a commemorative message followed by a “Walk of Honor” where staff and students will escort special guests to recognize and honor them for their service. Frontier Elementary School held their annual Heroes Breakfast for firefighters, police officers, first responders and soldiers.


Lake Pleasant Elementary School held an assembly in the multipurpose room where the band and choir performed. A memorial video was shown, and patriotic readings where given by students and staff.  


Oasis Elementary School encouraged students and staff to wear red, white and blue. NJHS invited first responders to attend an event held outside the school where students will have the opportunity give out thank you letters they have written to those who serve.


Sundance Elementary School had a remembrance ceremony by the flagpole. They also had guest speakers and played music in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11.
