Spelling Bee Winners

The Annual District Spelling Bee was held at the Peoria Unified School District’s Administration Center on Jan. 18 where top spellers from across the district competed in front of their peers. The results from the event include one top speller and seven runners-up who will advance to the Regional Spelling Bee in February.

 

The winner of the Annual District Spelling Bee for the second consecutive year in a row is Annabelle Tran from Frontier Elementary School. Tran won in the 19th round with the word “asparagus.”

 

The seven runners-up include:

·        Adam Nhili from Apache Elementary School

·        Kenneth Armstrong from Desert Palms Elementary School

·        EJ Esmas from Oasis Elementary School

·        Jacob Simpson from Parkridge Elementary School

·        Leah Bucher from Santa Fe Elementary School

·        Abigail Harris from Sky View Elementary School

·        Natalie Maring from Zuni Hills Elementary School

 

These eight exceptional students will compete in the Regional Bee hosted by Glendale Elementary School District in February. The winners of the Regional Bee will move on to the state-level Arizona Spelling Bee in March followed by the Scripps National Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C. the summer of 2019.

 

The winner will be recognized at an upcoming Governing Board Meeting. Those who were unable to attend the annual District Spelling Bee may watch the recorded event on the district website at https://www.peoriaunified.org/spellingbee
