Peoria Unified Elementary Schools Participate in Love Our Schools Day

Apache Elementary and Peoria Elementary recently participated in the annual Love Our Schools Day on Oct. 26. Love Our Schools Day is an opportunity for community members to connect with their local school, to roll up their sleeves and beautify the campus.

At Apache Elementary, projects were completed by 83 students, staff, parents and community members. Projects included trash pick-up, pulling weeds, moving rocks and vegetation maintenance.

Peoria Elementary had over 50 volunteers, including the Gridiron Booster Club from Peoria High School, Zuri Circle, Peoria High football players and more.

Volunteers at Peoria Elementary planted “Learning Gardens”, raked wood chips, sanitized doors, the nurse’s office, the library and the cafeteria tables, pulled weeds, swept sidewalks and picked up trash around the campus.

Love Our Schools Day has been taking place across Maricopa County for the last three years. Each year this event has grown, and schools have received tremendous amounts of support from their communities and have created beneficial relationships that impact each organization throughout the entire school year.

Thank you to all the community members and schools who make this event possible!
