Adding to its accolades, the Peoria Unified School District is the recent recipient of a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

Much like the recent award received by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International, the certificate of achievement was also granted for the district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for 2019.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by the district. The award also reflects a high level of commitment to fiscal integrity and management. To receive the award, the district must satisfy specific guidelines for effective, high-quality financial reporting recognized by school business officials.

The 2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
