Meet the Director of the MET Professional Academy

GLENDALE, ARIZ. – At the Sept. 28 Board Meeting, Peoria Unified Governing Board members approved a new director for the Medical, Engineering, Technology (MET) Professional Academy. Mrs. Barb Coakley will assume the role as director effective Monday, Oct. 2.

 

Coakley currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Liberty High School where she has been since 2014. Prior to that role, she served as an instructor for business and math courses at both Liberty and Sunrise Mountain high schools. She has been an esteemed member of the Peoria Unified staff since 2002.

 

Prior to her educational career, Coakley served as a Software Sales Consultant for Lucent Technologies for two and a half years as well as a Client Business Manager for AT&T for nine years. During her business career, Coakley was responsible for providing training for corporations, promoting marketing materials as well as being accountable for the overall profitability, revenue growth and customer satisfaction for a portfolio of strategic customers in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Through her business background, Coakley developed strong relationships with key business executives and managed a sales team to ensure all opportunities were identified to exceed quota expectations.

 

Coakley has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. A second Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Arizona and holds principal and teaching certificates with an emphasis in Business in Marketing.

 

Peoria Unified, located in the Northwest Valley, serves more than 37,000 students in 34 elementary schools, seven high schools and one non-traditional school. With ongoing open enrollment and alternative educational opportunities, the district boasts a 94 percent high school graduation rate.
