Liberty High School junior Jackson McLean achieved something few other students accomplish – he earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT assessment test in all four subject areas – English, math, reading and science. More than 1.6 million students took the ACT test while only 0.33% achieved a perfect score in all four subject areas.
In addition to McLean’s perfect 36, Peoria Unified celebrates two additional students who excelled on the ACT assessment test. Liberty High School junior, Kylie McEwen, also received a composite score of 36 – scoring a perfect 36 in English and math and scored a 35 in reading and science. Centennial High School junior Jacob Sajan also received a composite score of 36 – scoring a perfect 36 in English, math, and science and a 35 in reading. Sajan was also recognized as a Flinn Scholar Semifinalist earlier this year.
The ACT is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions. While there have been more students meeting all four ACT College Readiness Benchmarks over the past several years, the average ACT composite score has remained essentially unchanged. According to Horizon Education, the national average composite score for 2024 was 19.4. The ACT is scored on a scale of one to 36, with 36 being the highest possible score.
McLean has his sights set on the medical field and is considering his college options. All three students will be recognized at the 6 p.m. May 8 Governing Board meeting.
