GLENDALE, Ariz. – At the Governing Board Meeting on Thursday, February 12, the Governing Board voted unanimously to approve the Financial Audit for Fiscal Year 2025. Peoria Unified School District has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to transparent and responsible financial management, receiving an unmodified, clean audit opinion for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. The independent audit, conducted by Advisent Assurance, identified no financial statement findings and no federal award findings, reaffirming the district’s designation as a low-risk auditee.
The audit confirmed that Peoria Unified’s Annual Financial Report is presented fairly, with auditors issuing an unmodified opinion on both the district’s financial statements and the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards.
“Peoria Unified’s clean audit reflects values long embedded in the district’s culture,” shared Deputy Superintendent of Business Operations Marcie Rodriguez. She continued, “fiscal responsibility in Peoria Unified is more than a practice—it’s a promise. The district upholds transparency, accountability, and conservative stewardship of public dollars as core principles guiding every financial decision.”
This year, Peoria Unified was also honored with the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report marking nearly 40 consecutive years of national recognition for excellence in financial reporting.
Peoria Unified also remains transparent, publishing annual financial reports with more than a decade of historical data available to families and community members on its website.
Advisent Assurance reported no disagreements with management, no difficulties encountered during the audit and confirmed the firm’s full independence throughout the engagement. Auditors also noted that internal controls over both financial reporting and federal compliance were operating effectively, and that Peoria Unified continues to maintain strong, reliable accounting practices year over year.
