May 29 – 30, 2026, Cactus High School’s (CHS) nationally recognized Cobra Commanders (Team 498) kicked-off the 2026 Arizona Robotics League (ARL) season. This two-day competition, hosted at Cactus High School (CHS), 6330 W. Greenway Road in Glendale, included qualification, semi-final and finalist rounds, and brought together students from 18 teams.

The ARL is a community-driven program developed and led by CHS’ robotics program. Designed to expand robotics opportunities for students in Arizona, the ARL is supported by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell. ARL events follow the structure and spirit of the FIRST Robotics Competition while providing an off-season, low cost, high engagement environment that builds and reinforces STEM concepts, including engineering, programming, teamwork and leadership.

“We continue to be inspired by the great work our students are doing in the robotics program at CHS. From offering community-oriented programs to receiving national recognition, these students continue to demonstrate what is possible through Peoria Unified’s award-winning CTE programs,” said Chad Eichenlaub, Director of Career and Technical Education.
