Peoria Unified faculty and alumni in partnership with the Ironwood Drama Club present Come From Away, a musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein. Come From Away depicts the true story of a small town in Newfoundland that welcomed 7,000 stranded travelers after 9/11. 

In the uncertain hours immediately following the September 11 attacks, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration halted all commercial and general air traffic. For five days, a small town became a harbor in the storm, offering food, shelter, and compassion to thousands of travelers who had come from away.

“You'll laugh, cry, and be moved by the real-life stories woven throughout the show. Few musicals balance humor and heartfelt emotion as effectively,” shared Ironwood High School Drama teacher, Lyman Akers, “It masterfully translates the real-life chaos and kindness of September 11, 2001, into an uplifting, high-energy musical.”

Tickers are $5 at the door.

The play will begin showing on Wednesday Sept. 16 through Friday Sept. 18.
