Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the students and staff of Centennial High School expressed their gratitude to Officer Dave Fernandez, who will retire next month after 14 years of service as Centennial's first and only School Resource Officer!
A winner of the National School Resource Officer of the Year Award, Officer Fernandez has been the consummate model of honor, integrity and excellence during his time at CeHS. Students and staff cheered him on as he, his wife Donna, and their family marched through the hallways with Band, Spiritline, and Student Council. Student Council and the Peoria Police Department have teamed up to support an annual scholarship in his honor: Beginning this year, a graduating senior will each year be awarded the Officer Dave Fernandez Servant Leadership Scholarship! Officer Dave, thank you for your service and leadership, and congratulations on your retirement!
