On April 16, 2026, over 110 high school students from around Peoria Unified united at the District Administration Center to participate in the inaugural District Science Expo. This all-new event challenged students to apply their learning in physics, biology, chemistry, environmental science and earth, space science. 

 

The team from Centennial High School, under the leadership of Ms. Ryan Bailey, earned first place overall during the Science Expo. The team is comprised of:

Ironwood High School, led by Mrs. Amy Hutter, and Raymond S. Kellis High School, led by Mrs. Shailesh Parihar, earned second and third place, respectively. 

 

“The District Science Expo is a step in Peoria Unified’s journey of enhancing the educational experience students have in the classroom,” shared Sherry Piazza, Peoria Unified’s Director of Learning and Teaching. “Similar to the district’s annual Spelling Bee, Patriotic Speech Contest and Math Madness, the Science Expo joins a family of events focused on showcasing students’ achievements in Peoria Unified.”
