Last November, Superintendent Dr. KC Somers launched Somers' Spotlight, an all-new employee recognition program that gives parents the opportunity to recognize Peoria Unified staff's commitment to every student, every day.

Ashlee Minton, Exceptional Student Services teacher at Zuni Hills, was recently recognized as a Somers' Spotlight. Ms. Minton works hard to support, nurture and educate the students in the ABLE program, a specialized academic and life-skills program designed to support students with unique learning needs.

Her nominator shared, "she comes to teach each day with a smile on her face. Ms. Minton presumes competency in all students and pushes them to their fullest potential."
