Grade Level Information

  • First grade will be one of the most rewarding and challenging year of your child’s academic life. First graders will spend their day learning to read and comprehend non-fiction and fictional stories. They will learn phonics, spelling, and word meanings. This will transfer to their written expression. First graders will share their thoughts and ideas through writing narratives, informative, and opinion papers. Daily mathematics will include fluency to 20 with addition and subtraction, solving equations, and balancing equations with unknown addends. Students will explore simple fractions, money, time, and geometry. The growth demonstrated by first graders compares to none other.
