Principal's Message

  • Dear Canyon Family,

Canyon Elementary is not like any other school around!  The features that make our school so unique, make us the best school in and outside the Peoria Unified School District.  As a result, Canyon has earned a letter “A” label for academic achievement and student learning growth.

As soon as you walk onto our campus, you can feel our family atmosphere.  We are a small school with around 350 students, but our size allows us to take an individualized approach with our students and recognize the fact that all students learn differently and have different needs.  Our campus also inhabits the Sunflower School.  This school specializes in educating students with multiple disabilities, some of which require long term medical care.

We encourage students from kinder through 8th-grade to get involved with leadership.  Our students have opportunities to participate in clubs like Student Council, athletics, band, choir and our Friendship Garden.

Our school mission is aligned to the PUSD mission: Every student, Every day, Prepared to shape tomorrow. We believe that preparing our students for the future through high quality instruction, positive behavior intervention and supports, and collaborating with all stakeholders will result in high student performance and well-being.

As Principal and Assistant Principal, we work diligently with our faculty and staff to carry out the vision and mission of Canyon Elementary School. We believe that as a school community we play a fundamental role in positioning students for future success. We are committed to working closely with teachers, parents, and community members to ensure our children achieve their full potential and are prepared for their next phase of their educational career.
