Welcome to Sundance Elementary School

  • A Message from Our Principal:

    Ms. Ward & Ms. Holmes

    Dear Sundance Families,

I am very excited to be returning to Sundance Elementary School as your Principal! This is my 22nd in education and my 15th year as an administrator. I received my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and my Master’s in Educational Leadership and Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University. I’m a proud parent of two beautiful children. Matthew is starting his sophomore year in college and Rylan is beginning her sophomore year in high school. I’ve been married for 14 years to my husband, who is a firefighter for the City of Peoria. This school year, we believe the Sundance students, staff and community is “Better Together” when we work together to support our students both at school and at home. As your Principal, I am looking forward to continuing to grow together!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Ward

    Principal

A Message from Our Assistant Principal:

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Sundance Elementary School! I am beyond thrilled to accept this role and look forward to working together with Mrs. Ward and continuing to grow the Sundance school community. I am thrilled to work alongside dedicated students, staff and families for the 22-23 school year.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University.  Over the last 11 years, I taught fifth grade, first grade, kindergarten, and reading intervention. As I continued to grow in my profession, I realized how critical school leadership is and I obtained my Master’s in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I continued to purse leadership by serving as my school’s instructional coach.

I was born and raised in Arizona and could not imagine living anywhere else. In my free time, I love to be with my family, take my dog on adventures, or read a good book!

As your new Assistant Principal, I am delighted to begin the partnership between home and school to provide our students with the best opportunities to be successful. I am truly humbled to be a member of the Aztec family and have the privilege to serve Sundance. I cannot wait to meet all of you!

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Holmes
    Assistant Principal

    Our History:

Sundance Elementary School opened its doors in the fall of 1982 as a K-6 school. The first eighth grade promotion was in the spring of 1985. Sundance got its name from the Sundance housing development which surrounded the school. Our school mascot, the "Aztecs", and our school colors, which are red and yellow, were chosen by the student body at that time.

    Aztec Pride. Aztec Excellence.
