Attendance
The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. for all students. Students should arrive no earlier than 7:40 a.m. to ensure that there is a teacher on duty. Please ensure that students arrive at school by 7:55 a.m. to line up. Dismissal is at 3:00 p.m.
AbsencesWhen your child is absent, please call our attendance message line to excuse his/her absence. Leave the child's name, teacher name, and reason for absence. The number is 623-412-4683 and it is available 24 hours/7days a week. If your child will be out for more than two days, you may request homework. Homework requests received by 9a.m. will be available by the end of the day for pick up in the office. The policy for make up work allows two days for every day your student is absent.
Tardies
If a student is tardy to school, he or she must go to the office to get a pass to enter class. A pattern of unexcused tardies will result in the consequences explained in the letter below. Absences should be called in by parents before 9:00 a.m. on the school's attendance line, (623) 412-4683.
Good attendance and on-time arrival are key behaviors that lead to high student achievement. We realize it is unrealistic to expect 100% of our students to arrive on time every day and we know there are occasional family “emergencies”, oversleeping, car trouble and/or Doctor appointments which make it difficult for your child(ren) to make it to campus on time. We also believe that the number of tardy students we have each day, many of them “repeat offenders”, is unacceptable. Therefore, we are starting a program that imposes consequences for excessive tardies, excused and unexcused. We will also continue to recognize students that have high attendance and a low number of tardies with monthly rewards.
All student tardies will be recorded as “excused” or “unexcused”. Excused tardies will be defined as: those that are school related, those due to medical appointments accompanied by a note on medical office stationary. (This may also be faxed to us by your doctor’s office if necessary at 623-412-4685), or those called in/walked in by a parent/guardian. Unexcused tardies will be defined as: students that are late with no accompanying parent or note. Please help make responsible students by having them at school between 7:40 and 7:55 a.m. Your cooperation is much appreciated.
