FAFSA – THERE’S SERIOUS MONEY ON THE LINE!
Do you want to go to college but don’t think you can afford it? Do you think you won’t qualify? Submitting the FAFSA is the most important thing you can do if you want financial aid. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college.

Some families assume they won't qualify for financial aid and don't even bother completing the FAFSA. This could be a huge mistake. In 2021, students left an estimated $3.75 billion in Pell Grants on the table by not submitting the FAFSA. It's so much money! Most students receive some type of financial aid, so you should fill out a FAFSA application even if you don't think you qualify.

The FAFSA isn’t just for people who want or need federal student loans. Its purpose is also to determine aid you won't have to pay back, like college scholarships, grants, and even work-study funding. Finally, some private scholarships require a FAFSA as part of their application process. That's why completing one is so important! For example, completing the FAFSA is one of six steps you need to take to qualify for a $40,000 College Board Opportunity Scholarship and you qualify for a $1,000 College Board Opportunity Scholarship just by submitting your FAFSA. (For more information on those scholarships visit CollegeBoard.org.)

Still not convinced you should submit your FAFSA application? Many states and colleges also use the FAFSA to determine which students get financial aid through their individual programs—and how much they’ll be awarded. To begin your FAFSA grant application or for more information, click here or go to FAFSA.gov.
