    CLASS OF 2023 SENIOR TIMELINE…

    This timeline is up-to-date as of publication; however, there will be additional events, and dates as the year progresses. Be sure to check your student email, listen to announcements, visit the Career Center, and check the SMHS Counseling website frequently throughout the school year.

     

    August

    • Meet with your counselor and review ECAP-be sure you are on track to graduate!
    • Register for ACT (act.org) and/or SAT (collegeboard.com) retakes for those who are interested in university admission and scholarships
    • Be thinking of your senior quote for the yearbook
    • Schedule appt. at www.gradsphoto.com to get a picture taken at Grads for yearbook
    • Begin applying to colleges of your choice

    September

    • Jostens here (2nd hour assembly) to provide senior information - Order cap and gown by September 15th
    • Reminder to schedule an appointment for senior pictures at www.gradsphoto.com
    • University and out of state University students: finalize list of potential colleges and check application deadlines. Apply, Apply, Apply! (Do not wait for test scores)
    • Sept. 5th: Labor Day (No school)

     

    October

    • Request transcripts through  www.parchment.com
    • Order caps, gowns, and other graduation supplies
    • Oct. 1st: Complete university applications, especially out-of-state. KNOW DEADLINES!
    • Oct. 1st: Get your federal student Aid I.D. number and complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) @ www.fafsa.ed.gov (money is first come first serve)
    • Oct. 1st: Deadline to have senior pictures taken for the yearbook
    • Oct 3rd:-FAFSA Night (learn how to apply for FAFSA)
    • October 10th: Columbus Day (No school)
    • October 17th - 21st: Homecoming Week
    • October 22nd: Homecoming Dance

     

    November

    • If living on campus for college, check housing deadlines and deposit due dates
    • Continue applying for colleges and universities if you have not completed them
    • November 11th: Veteran’s Day (No school)
    • November 14th: FAFSA Night
    • November 16th: Early Release for MY LIFE DAY (Incoming freshmen event)
    • November 21st-25th: Fall Break (No school)
    • Senior portrait due by December 17th - call grads 623.566.1082 or Click here to schedule

     

    December

    • Complete College Applications!
    • Reminder to order your cap and gown if you have not already done so
    • December 7th: Full Day-No early release
    • December 21st and 22nd: Semester one final exams -- Early release – 10:20 a.m.
    • December 23rd: Winter Break begins

     

    January

    • January 9th: Second semester begins- SENIOR SUNRISE!
    • January 11th: Full Day-No early Release
    • January 16th: No school (MLK Day)
    • January 23rd: Meet the Teacher Night
    • Complete FAFSA form if you have not already done so www.fafsa.ed.gov. Most colleges have a priority deadline of mid-January
    • Begin collecting and submitting scholarship award letters even if you are not attending that college (submit to Career Center Specialist)

     

    February

    • Continue collecting and submitting scholarship award letters even if you are not attending that college (submit to Career Center Specialist)
    • Complete FAFSA form if you have not already done so www.fafsa.ed.gov. Most colleges have a priority deadline of mid-January.
    • February 1st: Deadline to place ad in yearbook
    • February 20th: No school (Presidents’ Day)
    • February 15th: ASVAB Test (for those interested in the military)

     

    March

    • Complete application to community college and take placement tests
    • March 20th – 24th: Spring Break (No school)
    • March 17st DEADLINE for submitting scholarship award letters even if you are not attending that college (submit to Career Center Specialist)

    April

    • Begin preparation for AP exams if you are taking them in May
    • April 7th: Senior Panoramic photo
    • April 18th: Mandatory senior meeting/including senior survey
    • April 20th: Prom assembly
    • April 21st: April Break- no school
    • April 21st:  PROM
    • April 27th:  Senior Award Ceremony 9am
    • April 28th: Tutor and community service packets due

     

     May

    • May 1st -May 12th: AP Testing Dates
    • May 9th:  Senior Walk at Elementary schools
    • May 17th: check out sheets dispersed
    • May 18th and 19th: Senior final exams
    • May 19th: Senior Sunset
    • May 19th: Last Day of school for Seniors
    • May 23rd: Senior breakfast 8am
    • May 23rd: Senior check-out 9am
    • May 25th, 2pm, State Farm Stadium
