Art
Our Oakwood Art program is led by the very talented Mrs. Mary Fritz. Our students enjoy their time in art class as they learn new techniques and let their creativity flourish. Mrs. Fritz picks out artwork each month to showcase the creativity of our students in the office hallways. The artwork of our talented Oakwood students is featured in the annual Peoria Arts Festival in the Spring.
Kindergarten - 6th Grade: All students in kindergarten through 6th grade take Art as a specials class in their 6-day schedule. All art lessons and projects align to the Arizona State Standards, and are almost always focused on one or more of the elements of art. Those are line, space, color, texture, value, shape, and form.
Junior High Art: Junior High students can elect to take Art or Advanced Art as one of their arts requirements in their elective schedule. These projects are also aligned to the Arizona State Standards, and focus more on advanced problem solving with a variety of possible outcomes. Our Junior High students work on projects that involve student introspection and communication.
