According to an old yearbook, Peoria's first teacher was a Miss Florence Kay. She taught children not in a one-roomed school house but in the back of a post office/general store that sat along the stage coach road to Wickenburg. When the railroad came, a new school was built north of the tracks and a number of children "came out of the bush to school, riding horseback from as far away as the Fria..." Peoria High has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Now students come from all over the northwest valley to attend our district's original high school founded in 1919. Students today enjoy a wide range of course offerings taught by a dedicated staff of over 100. Our history is full of examples of staff and community members consistently going the extra mile for the service of the children and families of our neighbors.
Our campus has award-winning Math, Engineering, Science and Achievement (MESA) program, AJFROTC program and Agriculture program.
We are also proud to have the COOP Preschool Program on our campus.
