NJHS is an academically based service organization that strives to uphold the five pillars upon which we were founded, Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship. Each spring, potential students are invited to apply based on both academic, (maintain a 3.5 GPA) and character achievements. Each member must demonstrate contributions in all five areas to be selected to serve on NJHS. Our current membership includes six, seventh graders and two, eighth graders. Once inducted, members are expected to complete at least 20 hours of community service for the school year as well as demonstrate leadership on campus through their continued academic success and involvement in school activities.
NJHS holds Pickle Sales every Tuesday and Thursday during the school year. Students may purchase pickles and various healthy treats for $.50-$1.00. The money raised through this endeavor is used to help Sky View in many different ways. In February, NJHS sponsored the Pasta for Pennies event to help raise money for the Leukemia Society, over $2000 collected. Additionally, NJHS assisted the Sky View PTSO in several events during the school year as well as kept track of the Coke Rewards Points for additional school prizes.
During the school year, NJHS will hold two additional fundraisers, selling coupon books in the fall and candy bars in the spring to help purchase a banner for the Sky View NJHS charter.
Our members look forward to serving Sky View during the school year.
