Meet Our Parent Candidates

Jan Borgstadt
It's not easy being a parent. It never has been, but today's complex mix of navigating our kids' busy school, extracurricular, work, and social activities makes it especially tough at times, given their exposure to concepts and practices that were not common – or even in existence – when we were kids! As the parent of two recent Centennial graduates and one current student, I appreciate knowing that our school provides a positive, safe, and nurturing environment for our students. Site Council will enable me to continue serving this wonderful school, its administration, staff and students as a parent who wants to give back to the place that has such a large impact on our families' lives. My time management and analytical skills are personal characteristics I believe would make me an effective member. At Centennial, my kids have been in everything from art, newspaper, and PSBN to NHS, band, and badminton, so I've supported the gamut of school activity while juggling my day job as an attorney, family, Girl Scouts leadership, and all the other stuff we all have to do. I'm a team player but also an independent thinker. I honor my commitments, and I work hard. I show up.Doug Darfus
I previously served on the CeHS Site Council during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. I am committed to fostering an innovative, student-centered environment, upholding academic excellence, and prioritizing the well-being of all our students. I wish to serve on the Site Council to contribute to our school community and promote Centennial’s values of honor, integrity, and excellence. With a master’s degree in education, I have a 28-year background as a mathematics teacher before moving to Arizona. During my time as the mathematics department chair, I collaborated with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure every child received the best possible placement and math education aligned with their chosen career goals. I am eager to use my experiences to continue to support the Centennial community by contributing to Site Council.Katye Gainey
I am excited about the opportunity to make improvements for the students and staff of Centennial. My experience in public education working on other high school campuses will allow me to bring a different point of view. I have a freshman attending CeHS this year and am excited to get involved.Katherine Gatrost
I am interested in serving on Centennial’s Site Council to help foster a strong community among the parents, students, staff, and administration. We can make a difference by creating a good environment for all. As an alum of Centennial High School and a parent to a current CeHS student, I bring a unique quality of experience. I have served on many different boards and believe this role is pivotal in creating a great Coyote community.Heather Williams
I would like to help the staff and students by creating a safe and fun culture and environment at Centennial. I was an educator in Peoria for 12 years and have one son who just graduated as well as one currently in 10th grade. I am passionate about education and ensuring our kids and staff have what they need to be successful.
