I hope your family experienced a healthy and relaxing weekend, a day longer for our students as we celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As we head into our third week of the new semester, I want to share some updates:
COVID Cases are Up, Free Tests Available for Order
Last week, Centennial experienced its highest number of COVID cases since the start of the pandemic, with 81 reported student cases. Thanks to our families for reporting positive cases and keeping symptomatic students home. Please continue to monitor your health, stay home and test when you experience symptoms, and contact our nurse at 623-412-4408 for further instructions. We will continue to disinfect classrooms where there were known infections and to encourage handwashing and indoor masking. In the next few days, our district will communicate some changes regarding contact tracing. Today, our government launched this website, which allows families to order free COVID tests. In the Event of an Absence...
Centennial's teachers will continue to make coursework, handouts, and activities available for absent students to access online. Some teachers will utilize Microsoft Teams or StudentVUE to post students' work. Others will use Moodle. Please talk with your son or daughter to ensure that he/she knows how to access work for every class in the event of an unexpected absence or illness.Future Freshmen Night Postponed to Wednesday, February 23rd
The ongoing substitute teacher shortage complicates matters when staff members begin to contract COVID. This week began with seven new teacher cases, after nine were reported last week. Our teachers play a most-vital role in each school's ability to continue in-person learning. To minimize unnecessary exposure during this COVID surge, Centennial will delay its Future Freshmen Night, moving the event back one month to Wednesday, February 23rd at 6:00pm. Please click here for details about Future Freshmen Night. You can share these with any friends or families whose 8th graders plan to attend CeHS next year.Meet the Teacher Night Monday, January 24th: 5-6pm

Hoopcoming is Next Week
Our Student Council members have worked enthusiastically to plan a memorable spirit week for January 24th-29th, including a Friday assembly and Saturday dance. To minimize the risk of COVID spread on campus, we'll communicate a special bell schedule for Friday, January 28th and hold our assembly outside, in the Stadium. Tickets are still on sale for the Hoopcoming Dance, scheduled from 7-10pm on Saturday, January 29th. We will hold the dance in the Main Gym to provide a larger space for our students and staff. And in general, we will strive to maintain a normal experience for your Coyote as we all work together through this COVID surge. Thanks for your flexibility and partnership as we strive to operate safely and support our students' opportunities to grow and achieve!
