Greetings to Our Coyote Family,
Welcome back to Centennial for the 2022-23 school year, and welcome to our 550 freshmen in the Class of 2026! You're joining a spirited community that is committed to honoring each other, practicing integrity, and pursuing and celebrating excellence. We'll hope to see you at New Coyote Orientation on Friday, August 5th at 8am.
I am so excited to kick-off the start of the 2022-23 school year on Wednesday, August 10th. If you are new to our school community this year, we have incredible teachers who are dedicated to helping your child learn and succeed. If you have been a part of the Centennial family for years, I hope you already know that I am here to support our students, teachers, and families. Please reach out to me anytime!
Our campus is abuzz with signs of the coming year. More than 150 students recovered credits via summer school. Over 200 freshmen attended our Bridges orientation sessions, and our athletes stayed busy practicing and attending camps and clinics. A number of facility upgrades are underway, including the continuing roof replacement project.
Today and in the coming weeks, we're excited to share with you important information to help our students and families prepare for a successful start. Please review all of the information carefully, beginning with registration packet pickup next week on Tuesday, July 19th. As we prepare to come back together, please let us know how we can help you. If you have any questions or concerns, please visit or call our office at 623-412-4400. Thanks for your support and partnership!
Mr. Hollabaugh
Principal

Centennial Students Achieve ACT Gains
Centennial’s Class of 2023 boosted school ACT averages, improving upon the scores of their 2022 counterparts. As students and teachers work through COVID-related learning gaps, we are encouraged to see overall gains in Centennial’s composite ACT scores, with the largest gains made on the English and Science subtests. We’ll publish a more detailed breakdown in the coming weeks. All students complete the ACT Aspire their freshman year and have the option to complete the Pre-ACT during sophomore year. All students then take the ACT during their junior year. Individual results from last year’s Aspire and ACT will be included in your student’s summer registration packet.School Record: 225 Coyotes Pass AP Tests
Congratulations to the students, teachers, and families! Centennial offers 19 Advanced Placement courses, and students who pass AP tests earn college credit. Have you thought about registering for AP courses? Any student who is performing at grade level and who desires a greater challenge should consider Advanced Placement coursework! 32 Coyote cheerleaders attended a four-day summer camp, learning new stunting skills, cheers and chants and working on game day material for this coming season. They also participated in a competition! Out of 300 total campers, Alexa Redondo took first-place in the jump-off competition. Five Coyotes were selected to the All-American Team and will perform overseas in the 2023 London New Year’s Day Parade and events! Centennial took 1st Place for its camp routine, 2nd for its cheer routine, and overall earned a superior team rating. Congratulations to the students and to Coach Gonzales, Coach Marinaro, and Coach Marshall!
Teaming Up to Support Campus Improvements
-
Site Council and the graduated Class of 2021 teamed up with the Football Boosters, Band Boosters, DECA, and others to bring a new custom-built trophy case to the CeHS Cafeteria! While the case will allow Centennial to finally display its 17 athletic state titles together, it will also feature academic, artistic, and club accomplishments.
Site Council and 2022 Graduate Cori Borgstadt worked together to welcome muralist Alex Cook to Coyote Country, where he led students, alumni, staff, and parents to paint his 99th "You Are Loved" mural! At Centennial, we HONOR each other. Alex brought our community together to create a message we hope will remind every student and teacher of their value!
