Math League Finishes in 1st Place!

  • Congratulations to Mr. Gahan and the Centennial Math Society for finishing in 1st place in the Math League competition on Saturday October 8th. MathLeague runs state, national, and international mathematics competitions each month from October through March. Students who perform well qualify for the state championship in April and possibly even the national championship in May. Each competition has two individual and two team rounds.  Students earn both individual and school team points by correctly solving problems.  The top three students in each grade level and top three schools overall earn prizes. Students must finish in the top 20% or earn 50% of the possible points in a single event to qualify for state. This is Centennial's first time winning the competition and our first time having a student win the individual competition. Congratulations to the following Coyotes:

    • Isabella Rodenbarger (2nd Place for Freshmen)
    • Josiah Estle (2nd Place Sophomores)
    • Arthur Breder Cordiero de Oliveira (1st Place for Juniors and 1st Place Overall)
    • Gabrielle Dykstra (3rd Place Seniors)
    • Heike Lieske (1st Place for Seniors and 2nd Place Overall)
    • 7 Qualifiers for the April State Competition (Josiah Estle, Katie Nguyen, Arthur Breder Cordiero de Oliveira, Gabrielle Dykstra, Jessen Carriveau, Heike Lieske, and Kylee Wojak)

News Around Centennial

  • psych egg

For their final project in Mrs. Beck's Psychology class, every student took responsibility for caring for an egg for a week. Of course, they had to apply many psychological concepts to the care, development, and personality of the egg, but they enjoyed carrying their egg with them everywhere they went! Some egg adventures included Mexico, Flagstaff, the movie theatre, a wisdom tooth extraction, the pumpkin patch, work, and many, many, sporting events. It is always so fun to see the whole school get into this project! We were also able to see who our responsible caretakers were....some were definitely more equipped than others!
