News Around Centennial

Centennial French students and French Club members continued their tradition of making homemade holiday cards for the homeless. These cards, handwritten in French, are being mailed overseas to a French charitable organization called Sakado. Sakado is a deliberate misspelling of the French word "sac à dos," meaning backpack. This group provides backpacks full of cold weather clothing, food, vouchers, and other necessities to people living on the streets in France. They strive to include a handmade holiday card inside each backpack to help uplift the recipient.
Mr. Leavitt, Interact Club sponsor, let us know that Interact club members Viviana Luna, Isabella Muro, and Gracie Jasinek recently worked with Interact Co-sponsor Mr. Lentz to collect expired prescription medications with the Peoria Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.
Centennial hosted Future Freshmen Night last Wednesday. More than 300 incoming 8th grade families from the Class of 2027 attended to learn more about what Centennial has to offer for the 2023-2024 school year. Families watched performances from Spiritline, Dance, Band, and Choir. Students and administrators spoke about the opportunities at our school, and families toured the campus, meeting teachers, club sponsors and coaches.
