    bates foundation volunteers

More than 150 students, athletes and adults underwent heart screenings last Saturday at Centennial! Thanks to the Anthony Bates Foundation, CeHS Athletic Director Adam Larsen, and CeHS Nurse Dinah Record for sponsoring and promoting the event. These screenings save lives, and Saturday was no exception, as the volunteer screeners detected a life-threatening condition in at least one of the adults. The screening was held in honor of Cesar Vasquez Gil, whose family members assisted throughout the day. The family is very grateful to Sharon Bates and the foundation.  The event not only provided emotional support, but also served as financial help to the Vasquez-Gil family. From beginning to end, Sharon Bates and the Anthony Bates Foundation provide an invaluable service, one that continues to save lives.

    Centennial Coyotes Basketball

Congratulations to Coach Grace and Centennial Boys Basketball for their amazing come-from-behind victory at Apollo on Saturday night! The Coyotes found themselves down 16 at halftime, only to storm back and outscore the Hawks by 28 in the second half, to win 71-59. Centennial hosts Apollo Monday night and it's Toy Drive Night!

News Around Centennial

    guest speaker

On Tuesday, Centennial alumnus Olivia Dow visited the yearbook office and talked with current Coyotes about college life and her last four years at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU. A former Editor-in-Chief for the Coyote Imprint Yearbook herself (2019), Olivia came to talk with current students about the opportunities that ASU's journalism department grants and gave tips and tricks for those hard-to-get action photographs when on the field or in the gym. We thank Miss Dow for her time and expertise!

    field day collage

The National Honor Society sponsored a canned food drive during the month of November with the top six 2nd hour classes earning a field day during the month of December.  NHS collected over 1200 cans during this event.  This past Friday, Dec. 9th, the top 6 classes got their prize and had a great time out on the field.  Mr. Gahan's class not only won the can collection with 400 cans, but also took 1st place during field day.  Thank you to everyone who supported this awesome event.
