December 19 - 23, 2022
Congratulations to Coaches Gonzales, Marinaro, Marshall and the Centennial Game Day Spiritline! This past Saturday, Centennial Cheer competed in the 2022 AIA Game Day State competition, taking 2nd place in Division II! The team hit two of the best routines possible, earning zero deductions for both the qualifying and final rounds. Centennial was also awarded a specialty award for Best Crowd Leading Cheer. Our coaches are extremely proud of the display of sportsmanship these ladies presented! The number of comments about the girls and how respectful they were backstage was amazing to hear as a coach. These girls have worked extremely hard to earn this spot. Way to go ladies!
On Friday, Future Teachers Academy students recognized 7 teachers/staff members for exemplifying various gifts that all teachers should possess. Congratulations to Coach Taylor (Intentionality), Haley Beck (Responsibility), Lisa McMillen (Optimism), Craig Weeks (Courage), Tracey Cota (Sensitivity), Scott Hollabaugh (Respect), and Laura Colletti (Passion), who were all selected by students for this special recognition.
Happy Holidays from Choir!

News Around Centennial

Officer Fernandez sends A HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing Student Council and their fearless leader, Mr. Berquam…errrr Santa, for helping out at Shop With a Cop last weekend!
Our Coyotes sounded great at the Old Town Holiday Festival in Peoria! Bel Canto performed in Dickens costumes.
French culture was brought to life this December when French students learned about the custom of leaving a shoe out for Saint Nicholas. French V students each studied a holiday tradition in depth and surprised their French III classmates with special homemade treats, including une crèche, du pain d'épice, une bûche de Noël, and une galette des rois.
Mrs. Parrish, our HOSA Sponsor, let us know that Centennial and Liberty HOSA clubs visited Arbor Ridge Assisted Living community on Saturday December 17th. All 150 Arbor Ridge residents received a carefully wrapped holiday gift and a visit from these remarkable students. Our Construction teacher, Mr. Ruiz, transported our gifts to Arbor Ridge…his usual contribution to this holiday tradition. What a guy!

This past week, the Student Council hosted a hall and door decorating contest on campus. The halls were decorated by our school clubs on campus and the doors by the classrooms. It was wonderful to see all the participation from our students to make our halls and doors festive for the last week of the semester.
