Thanks to Mr. Berquam and Student Government for planning this week's Hoopcoming Festivities! Students will enjoy daily lunchtime activities and dress-up themes, including Monday's Construction Day, Tuesday's Red, White, and Blue Day, Wednesday's Occupation Day, and Thursday's Boujee Day. On Friday, we'll hold spirit assemblies in the Main Gym to recognize winter sports athletes and celebrate the Spiritline's Group Stunt State Title. Students will wear camouflage with class-color accessories (Freshmen yellow, Sophomores green, Juniors blue, and Seniors pink). Centennial hosts its hoopcoming basketball games on Tuesday with the Boys taking on Sunrise Mountain and Friday, with the Girls hosting Apollo.

What's Happening on Campus

  • auto field trip to GCC

On January 25th, Centennial's Automotive students visited Glendale Community College to learn about post-secondary degrees and certifications available in this high-demand career pathway.

    Ikebana project

This week, Ms. Cothren’s Japanese II class completed their Ikebana projects. After researching various Ikebana schools, students incorporated the techniques and ideas from the centuries-old Japanese culture into personalized ikebana displays. Ikebana is the art of beautifully arranging cut stems, leaves, and flowers in vases and other containers that evolved in Japan over seven centuries. To arrange the stems and flowers exactly as one wishes, a familiarity with many different ways of fastening and positioning them is necessary. These techniques are what people attend ikebana classes to learn. Usually, three to five years are required to acquire these technical and expressive skills. Ms. Cothren's students personalized their projects by incorporating ideas that were important to them.

If these students win at State, they get to go to the International Competition in Orlando, FL in April, meaning they'll also go to Disney World for fun and competition! Congratulations to these District 2 DECA Medal winners:
