Congratulations to both Centennial soccer teams for winning their play-in games on-campus last Thursday evening and clinching berths in the 5A State Playoffs! Coach Gough and the Boys Soccer team beat Independence last night 2-1 to move into the State Championship Tournament for the first time since 2009. The Boys then traveled Tuesday night to Catalina Foothills High School in Tucson, where they defeated the Falcons 1-0 thanks to an all-around great effort including Adrian Padilla's second-half goal and keeper Ivan Rojas' stellar defense. Boys Soccer will appear in the quarterfinals Saturday at 2pm, at Horizon High School. Coach Shrake, Coach Beck and the Girls Soccer team dominated Mountain View Marana 6-1 to return to the State Championship Tournament. Good luck to both teams as they travel to Tucson this week on Wednesday to face Catalina Foothills. If the girls win, they'll also play at 2pm on Saturday, at a location to-be-determined.
On Friday Feb. 10th, Centennial’s Bel Canto Choir participated in the Northern Arizona University Jazz and Madrigal Festival. They gave an amazing performance and earned a Superior rating, the festival's highest-possible rating and Bel Canto's second Superior rating of the school year! Congratulations to Bel Canto and thank you to the staff, students and families for their support of our program.

Mrs. Steele Retires After 29 Years at CeHS
-
On Friday, February 10th, Centennial celebrated its retiring Assistant Principal, Mrs. Brandi Steele, who has served as a social studies teacher, coach, Student Council advisor, and administrator over the course of her 29 years in the district. Our student government officers, cheerleaders, staff, and students lined the 200-300 Building hallways to thank and congratulate Mrs. Steele on her many years of service and leadership at Centennial, leading her back to her classroom, where her husband Marcus, children Tanner and Victoria, and longtime social studies colleagues waited to congratulate her. Mrs. Steele, thank you for everything you've done to shape Centennial's values and traditions!
School Resource Officer Appreciation Day: Thank You Officer Fernandez!

Wednesday is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and of course Centennial is home to the very best School Resource Officer, Officer David Fernandez of the Peoria Police Department. Officer Fernandez works tirelessly to serve our community, promoting safety, instructing in Criminal Justice classes, and serving as a mentor and leader on campus. If you see him this week, be sure to thank Officer Fernandez for everything he does.
