Random Acts of Kindness (or RAK) Week celebrates kindness and the "pay it forward" mentality. Our Student Government works with other campus clubs to promote altruistic acts of service and kindness. Started in 1995 and a Centennial tradition for many of the last years, Random Acts of Kindness Week emphasizes our school's value of honoring each other.

Last week our Japanese students performed Japanese Theater. Students researched 6 different types of theatre, performing one scene of their choice from a short story or movie: Kabuki – traditional, Kyogen – slap stick comedy, Takarazuka – western musical. Geisha Dance – previously forbidden for females, Noh – with masks, and Bunraku – life-sized puppetry. The group pictured above chose Kabuki, a traditional Japanese form of theater, dance drama, with roots tracing back to the Edo Period. It is recognized as one of Japan's three major classical theaters along with Noh and Bunraku and has been named as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. These students wrote their own script and performed with authentic costumes and props.
Congratulations to all of the students and staff who performed in last week's Beat the Betes Talent Show on Friday during 2nd period. Students enjoyed performances from nine different acts, including singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and comedians. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Congratulations to Centennial DECA for achieving DECA’s School-based Enterprises Chapter Certification for the 2022-2023 school year! DECA recognized Centennial High School’s Coyote Den with the Gold Recertification Level. The Coyote Den, the school-based enterprise at Centennial High School for the past 30 years, was among 461 school-based enterprises achieving the gold level re-certification for the 2022-2023 school year and will be recognized during DECA’s International Career Development Conference in Orlando in April of 2023. The Centennial High School DECA members who contributed to the certification were current student Samia Hartley, and two Centennial alumni, along with the assistance of their DECA chapter advisor, Denise Ottenheimer and Beverly Hatfield, our Coyote Den Manager. Your SBE’s excellence and hard work are important reasons for your achievement of this outstanding award.
