Special thanks to the Peoria Police Officers Association Charities, which invited Centennial Student Council members to participate in its 20th annual Shop With a Cop event. With help from generous donors like former Coyote Head Nurse Lisa Alexander, Centennial was able to take 51 children to breakfast, to see Santa and to go shopping at Target. For the 6th consecutive year, our irreplaceable Student Government Advisor Mr. Berquam and awesome Student Council officers sacrificed their Saturday morning to support this community event.

Meet Centennial's Next Assistant Principal & Athletic Director

  • Dear Coyote Families,

As you may know, our district recently selected Dr. Adam Larsen to serve as Peoria Unified’s next Director of Facilities & Maintenance. Dr. Larsen will continue to support Centennial this school year. In the meantime, we have worked with site staff members and district administrators to search for the right person to fill his role as Centennial’s next Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. I want thank everyone who participated in this process, helping to provide feedback.

After a thorough selection process, we are excited to welcome Mr. Darien Schoolcraft to the Coyote community as our next Athletic Director. Mr. Schoolcraft started his teaching career in 2009 as a PE teacher in the Phoenix area, transitioning to PUSD in 2013.  He has coached high school and elementary Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball and Track, serving both male and female athletes.  For the last eight years, Darien has served as an administrator, including three years as assistant principal and the last five years as Principal of Apache Elementary.  He has worked diligently over these years to build positive culture that allows students to thrive academically and through sports, clubs, and activities.

I am grateful to the multiple qualified candidates who sought to serve in this role and who have demonstrated significant contributions to PUSD. Our team chose Mr. Schoolcraft because of his leadership experience, commitment to student support, focus on quality instruction, and track record of serving teachers and coaches. Darien will build strong relationships with our students and staff and work tirelessly to support them. Mr. Schoolcraft’s transition to this new role will occur later this coming spring, closer to the end of the school year. Dr. Larsen will continue to support Centennial until that time.

We look forward to witnessing the positive impact that Mr. Schoolcraft will have on our school and its athletic program. Please join me in welcoming him into our Coyote Family! We plan to introduce him to all of you very soon. Thank you,

    Mr. Hollabaugh
    Principal

Last Monday, Centennial DECA served our community, cleaning litter from the side of the road. The students walked a mile along 83rd Ave between Cactus and Thunderbird, in honor of a street that was adopted by a Centennial family. The students collected 17 bags of trash to help keep our community clean.

    Chris Brown Director One ACt

Last Friday, Centennial Theatre Company shared senior Chris Brown's Art Capstone project, in which she directs her peers in the one-act "The Cages we Build." Chris did a phenomenal job, and the cast left the audience in tears. Chris, we are proud of your hard work and pursuit of excellence!

Congratulations to Centennial's new Varsity Girls Soccer Coach, Ms. Haley Beck, on securing her first win. The Coyotes defeated Kellis 4-2 to kick off the regular season. Coach Gough and the Boys team also defeated the Cougars, 3-0. CeHS Soccer plays Horizon on Tuesday and Notre Dame Prep Thursday. Last week, Coach Rath and Girls Basketball won two of its three games, defeating Casa Grande and Fairfax before falling to Notre Dame Prep. Coach James and Boys Basketball won both of their games, topping Casa Grande and Fairfax. Congratulations to Coach Burgess and Wrestling. They hosted and defeated Thunderbird and Washington last Wednesday night.
