    counselors 2324

This week is National School Counselor's Week! Our community is so fortunate to have Centennial's amazing team of counselors.
Their care and concern for our students is beyond measure.  Thank you, Mrs. Kennard, Mrs. Luque, Mr. Ramey, Mrs. Schmidt and Mrs. Wood for all you do for our Coyote community.

Tuesday, February 6th: Junior Information and ACT Parent Night

  • Grades 9 – 11 Parent Informational Sessions

Preparing for the ACT (Grades 9 – 11)

    Junior Year Information (Grade 11)

Both Sessions Available Tuesday, February 6th at 6pm (Library)

    Dear Parents,

This coming Tuesday, February 6th at 6pm in the Library, Centennial will host two informational sessions:

The ACT, Pre-ACT, and Aspire Test: Why They Matter and How You Can Prepare (Grades 9 – 11)

The first is designed for all students and families wishing to familiarize themselves with the ACT, the most-important test our students take during high school. Students’ ACT results directly impact college admissions and scholarship eligibility. Our students are preparing every year:

    • Our freshman take the Aspire in April, which provides predictive data for how they’ll perform as juniors on the ACT.
    • Our sophomores will have the opportunity to take the Pre-ACT this coming March. Like Aspire, the Pre-ACT gives sophomores and their families a progress indicator for their eventual ACT performance.
    • And this coming April, our juniors will take the actual ACT. We encourage all 9th, 10th and 11th grade families to join us for this information!

Key Information for Juniors and Junior Parents (Grade 11)

Each year, we look forward to also meeting with our junior parents and students to share a wide variety of information to prepare them for senior year and build understanding concerning postsecondary opportunities and scholarships.:

Around Campus

  • On Saturday, Jan. 27, Centennial concert band students auditioned for the Central Region Honor Band. The Central Region is quite competitive so having ANY student make it is a huge accomplishment!  The following Centennial students were selected: Kali Setka (Flute), Sarah Stakland (Flute), Nathan Reynolds (Oboe), Abbey Harris (Clarinet), Abel Garcia (Clarinet), Alivia Setka (Clarinet 2nd Alternate). Congratulations, we are so proud of your accomplishment!

Big day for Centennial speakers and debaters at the 4th Annual Jackrabbit Jamboree. All members competed in new events in one of the biggest tournaments in the state. In Congressional Debate, where competitors debate topics like the US withdrawal from NATO and the US halting lithium mining in California's Salton Sea state park, Jonathan Runger-Flushe came in 1st place out of 108 competitors. In Original Oratory, the largest speaking event of the tournament, Devan Kramer made it to the finals and came in 5th out of 74 competitors. In her first tournament ever, Harmony Fisher made it to the finals of Original Spoken Word Poetry and came in 5th out of 41 competitors.

Chris Brown participated in the Arizona All State Show Choir Festival this past weekend! It was a long and intense few days for Chris as she worked with 59 other students from around the state to put together an amazing, high energy performance that included singing and choreography! Chris auditioned for this group back in November and was 12th chair in the state! Please congratulate her for representing Centennial and the Peoria Unified School District well!
