Random Acts of Kindness Week at Centennial

Random Acts of Kindness (or RAK) Week celebrates kindness and the "pay it forward" mentality. Our Student Government works with other campus clubs to promote altruistic acts of service and kindness. Started in 1995 and a Centennial tradition for many of the last years, Random Acts of Kindness Week emphasizes our school's value of honoring each other.

    Full Day of School

Wednesday, February 14th is a full day of instruction. Students will dismiss at 2:20pm.

School Resource Officer Appreciation Day: Thank You Officer Fernandez!

  • Officer Fernandez

Thursday, February 15th is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and Centennial is home to the very best School Resource Officer, Officer David Fernandez of the Peoria Police Department. Officer Fernandez works tirelessly to serve our community, promoting safety, instructing in Criminal Justice classes, and serving as a mentor and leader on campus. If you see him this week, be sure to thank Officer Fernandez for everything he does.

Around Campus

  • Congratulations to our January and February students of the month, seniors Brooke Ojeda and Harmony Fisher. Both were honored on Friday by the Peoria Rotary Club for epitomizing the organization's motto of "Service Above Self." Mr. Tenbarge nominated Brooke, who is a member of Centennial's state championship SEA Club team, French Club, and NHS. Next year, she plans to attend university, where she'll study to become a petroleum engineer. Mr. Wolff nominated Harmony, who is a member of DECA and Speech and Debate. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Peoria Youth Advisory Council. Harmony plans to study political science on her way to law school. She hopes to someday practice Civil Law. Both students are AP Capstone candidates, preparing to present and defend their projects this coming April.

    Interview Day

Thanks to Ms. Koener and the more-than 30 community members who provided over 200 Centennial students with the opportunity to participate in our Spring Semester Mock Interview Day, sponsored by Centennial's chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America!

This week Japanese 2 did a team building activity with Mrs. Colletti, Centennial's Theatre Teacher, to prepare for the student's February 13th Japanese Theater presentations.

Friday, February 9th, Mrs. Saltzman’s Advanced Culinary students taught Mrs. Cothren’s Japanese II students how to make a traditional dish called, Chicken Lo Mein.
