January 27 - February 1, 2025
It's Hoopcoming Week, and our dance is scheduled for Saturday night, February 1st, from 7-10pm in the Main Gym. Thanks to Student Council for planning our dress-up themes, lunchtime activities, and Friday assemblies! Dance tickets are on sale daily during lunch periods!
Congratulations to Centennial Student Council and its advisor Mr. Berquam! The Coyotes earned the Outstanding Council of Distinction Award at the 2025 Arizona Association of Student Councils' recent state convention in Tucson. Each year, AASC assesses each applying council's organizational structure, leadership curriculum, activities, service projects, traditions, and support for social causes in determining which councils to recognize as "Outstanding Councils of Distinction." We are grateful for the hard work, creativity, and Coyote Pride that our student leaders display each and every day!
Last weekend, Centennial Wrestling continued its longstanding tradition of hosting the Officer Brad Jones Pack Invitational, welcoming 54 wrestling teams to CeHS to compete and to honor the memory and service of Officer Jones, a Centennial graduate and Glendale Police officer killed in the line of duty. On Saturday night, current Peoria and Glendale police officers joined hundreds of parents, students and athletes in saluting members of the Jones family, who were on-hand for the final round of the invitational. Thanks to our coaches, volunteers, support staff, security team, maintenance, culinary students, PSBN students and others who helped to keep this important tradition alive, and congratulations to the many Coyote wrestlers who placed:

Junior Information Night
Essential Information for Juniors
Grades 9 – 11 Parents Welcome
Wednesday, January 29th at 6pm (Library)
Dear Parents,
This coming Wednesday, January 29th at 6pm in the Library, Centennial will host an informational session to support families interested in key information primarily impacting juniors. Grades 9 – 11 parents are welcome to attend to
Learn About the ACT, Pre-ACT, and Aspire Test: Why They Matter and How You Can Prepare (Grades 9 – 11)
Families wishing to familiarize themselves with the ACT, the most-important test our students take during high school. Students’ ACT results directly impact college admissions and scholarship eligibility. Our students are preparing every year:
- Our freshmen take the Aspire in April, which provides predictive data for how they’ll perform as juniors on the ACT.
- Our sophomores will have the opportunity to take the Pre-ACT this coming March. Like Aspire, the Pre-ACT gives sophomores and their families a progress indicator for their eventual ACT performance.
- And this coming April, our juniors will take the actual ACT. We encourage all 9th, 10th and 11th grade families to join us for this information!
Learn Key Information for Juniors and Junior Parents (Grade 11)
Each year, we look forward to also meeting with our junior parents and students to share a wide variety of information to prepare them for senior year and build understanding concerning postsecondary opportunities and scholarships.:

Ms. Jones, Centennial Ceramics teacher, said: Jessica Cruces Marquez joined ceramics as a senior and has far exceeded the expectations of the class, not only as a talented artist, but also as a supportive and inspiring peer. Her knowledge of working with clay demonstrates a level of technical skill far beyond the course requirements, and her creativity, dedication, and strong work ethic are evident in her refined techniques and remarkable craftsmanship. Jessica is always striving to improve her work while encouraging and uplifting those around her, making her an exceptional choice for Artist of the Month. You can find her artwork displayed at Peoria's District art show as well as Centennial's art show in the Spring.
Mrs. Tucker, Centennial Choir teacher, said: Hannah Christians radiates positivity in everything she does. Hannah is a member of Bel Canto, was also in Mixed Choir last semester, has a leading role in “SpongeBob Musical”, and is one of the Captains of the Improv Troupe. Hannah naturally steps into leadership roles and exemplifies the qualities of collaboration, inspiration, and dedication in everything she does. She uplifts her peers and helps them to see their potential whether it be in singing, acting or simply being a supportive and caring friend. Hannah is creative and smart and a wonderful addition to our Performing Arts department and I am happy to nominate her for Artist of the Month.
