Congratulations to Centennial Performing Artist of the Month Therese Kelley! Mrs. Garrigan says Therese is one of Centennial's youngest Performance Dance students and "is a positive contributor to the collaborative process through creating and teaching choreography. She is positive, humble, and always hard-working. She recently volunteered to create a tap number for our school musical, SpongeBob SquarePants. Therese choreographed a fantastic piece and spent her personal time after school teaching it to our cast members. This was her first time creating and teaching a musical theater number, but you would never know it! She was so prepared, leading the actors with grace, kindness, and enthusiasm. Therese exemplifies the qualities of a gifted artist and Coyote Pride. We are so fortunate to have her in the dance program!
Imaan Agha is Centennial's Visual Artist of the Month! Mrs. Lund says she is a quiet individual who has a fierce determination. Imaan developed a photography portfolio and continues to cultivate her own creative style. Within her is a brilliant individual who seeks to capture the events of our culture through a lens..
Congratulations to the 38 DECA members who attended the State Competition last week in Downtown Phoenix! Elizabeth Garcia-Gomez, Isaiah Halonen, and Saomy Valentin all earned testing medals! Saomy Valentin and Hanna Macias advanced to finals!
Our FCCLA Culinary Students competed at the State Leadership Conference in Tucson this week and took home awards in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories! We would like to congratulate Hanna Macias for winning 2nd place overall in the Appetizer Display category. Our students earned the Silver category for Cupcake Display, Mise En Place Challenge, and Mystery Basket and also earned a Bronze award for a Baking & Pastry Event. We are incredibly proud of how hard our culinary students worked to prepare for their events, and how they represented Centennial with Coyote Pride.
FCCLA Educator students also competed last week in Tucson. Our club earned the Outstanding Chapter Award, a gold level status and highest level a club can achieve! Ava Shatto earned a Gold Medal in Focus on Children! Julianna Dubose and Lillian Fisher both earned Silver Medals in the Art of Storytelling. Conor Olney and Roman Lopez earned Bronze Medals in Early Childhood Education and Silver Medals in Toys that Teach. Lillian Fontana earned a Bronze Medal in Focus on Children. Monserrath Romero earned a Silver Medal in Leadership, Cheyanne Sassaman earned a Bronze Medal in Teach or Train, and first-time competitor and freshman Alexandra Doukasearned a Bronze Medal in the Teach or Train Competition. We are proud of these nine competitors and our growing Centennial Future Educators Club!
