Congratulations to our spring sports athletes, who were active before and during the break. Boys Volleyball finished fourth out of 25 teams at the Kellis Invitational. Softball went 1-3 against a tough slate of 6A teams competing in the Hamilton Invite, and Track & Field showed out big time at the Chandler Invite! Brayden Long, Jacoby Lamar, and Kaylee Chavez all ran personal bests in the 100m.All three are ranked in the Top 10 in Division II. The Boys 4x100 team won their heath and are ranked #2 in the state. Mattox Grove ran personal bests in the 1600 and 3200. He is ranked #1 in the 1600 and #2 in the 3200! Before break, Baseball returned to the annual Boras Classic for the first time since 2016. The tournament pits top high school teams from the surrounding states against each other and included more than 20 Major League scouts and more than 40 college recruiters. ACT & Aspire Testing Next Week
-
On Tuesday, April 1st and Wednesday, April 2nd, Centennial will administer the ACT Aspire test to all freshmen and the ACT and Arizona Science tests to all juniors. All 10th and 12th grade students will stay home on April 1st and 2nd to complete lessons and activities using their school-issued laptops.
These assessments require our school to implement special schedules, including virtual home learning for 10th and 12th grade students and unique early release times for 9th and 11th grade students:

We have sent a separate letter to all 9th and 11th grade students and families with details for the testing dates, including regular bus pickup times, daily 6:45am breakfast availability, and bus departure times:
Letter for Freshman Families
Letter for Junior Families
Teachers will provide sophomores and seniors assignments to complete and submit online. Because our teachers will be proctoring tests for the other grade levels on campus, they cannot provide virtual instruction. However, our 10th and 12th grade students will demonstrate their attendance via their submission of the assignments teachers provide. Freshmen and Juniors will be excused from these activities since they will be testing on both days.
Safety Update: Morning Campus Entry
-
To enhance campus safety, Centennial is reducing the number of morning entry points. I explained these upcoming changes to staff, students and Site Council during the week preceding Spring Break. Please see the short video above for Mr. Hollabaugh's more detailed explanation.Beginning Monday, March 24th, students should please:
- Enter campus through the Main Gate, Breezeway, or Acoma Bus Bay.
- Avoid the Staff Lot, which is reserved for teachers and staff with key access.
Our school will close the 300 and 400 Building entrances off of 79th Avenue as well as the westernmost sidewalk near the Varsity Baseball Field. Students parking in the Horizons Lot should please circle the west stadium track sidewalk instead of the Baseball sidewalk, exiting the stadium near the home concessions stand and entering campus through the Main Gate. It's our hope that these reduced entry points enhance campus safety. Remember that at 7:20am, our campus reduces to a single point of entry, via the Front Office. If you have any questions about these changes, please feel free to give our office a call at 623-412-4400.

Pre-Calculus students celebrated Pi Day on March 14th by creating a sine function out of spaghetti. Students began by creating a circle with a radius of one spaghetti length. Then they used their knowledge of the unit circle (and great teamwork!) to create a jumbo sine curve. We will use this parent graph as a reference for graphing all future trigonometric functions.
Last week, our Construction students competed in the Arizona SkillsUSA Region Championships, held at Lowe’s on Thunderbird. Congratulations to Brayden Byrd and Braedon Boone, who finished in 1st and 2nd Place respectively in the Masonry competition. Eric Throssel finished in 1st place in Plumbing. In the Electrical Competition, Zach Sosne took 1st place and CeHS Capstone competitor Zach Isley finished in 2nd place. Congratulations to Mr. Ruiz and all of our students on a job well done!
