Dear Centennial Families,
-
November is already here, and just 28 school days remain in our first semester, with progress reports due to families next Friday, November 12th and course assessments set for December 15th and 16th. As we wrap up the first semester, I want to share a few important notes:
Dress Code
As you may know, our district modified the student dress code for the 2021-22 school year, removing some of the restrictions that existed in prior years and incorporating more gender-neutral language. We’ve spent time reviewing the new dress code with student groups, teachers, staff, and our Site Council, seeking feedback regarding its administration. We’ve also held conversations with district administrators, who’ve implemented additional updates this week in response to feedback from school sites.Review the Dress Code Here
See Page 33 (Page 20 numbered)We ask for your partnership in promoting the dress code. Our teachers, staff, and administrators will care for students, even as they correct dress code violations, by holding one-on-one conversations that respect students’ privacy and avoiding negative assumptions. We also strive to provide students with alternative clothing so that they can quickly resume learning. While repeated dress code infractions can result in disciplinary consequences, the overwhelming majority should be addressed with respectful, private conversations between students and staff. Thanks for your help in reviewing the updates.
Neighborhood Parking Citations
Some of our students choose to park off-campus within the surrounding neighborhoods. Our friends at the Peoria Police Department have asked that we remind students to park only in approved spaces. As they find cars parked in restricted areas marked with “No Parking” signs, Peoria PD may issue citations. Centennial’s student parking lot is full, with students on a waiting list. Our neighbors at Horizons Community Church still have a limited number of remaining spaces to sell. Please contact them if you are interested. If you have questions about legally parking off-campus, please contact Officer Fernandez at 623-412-4448.As you review the November dates and information below, you’ll see there is much to celebrate and many exciting events remaining in first semester. I hope to see you at one of them. Thanks for your partnership and Coyote Pride!

PSBN Broadcasts Multi-Camera Live Performances
The PSBN crew just completed a three-day shoot for Clue: High School Edition, directed by CeHS Theatre Teacher Laura Colletti. This was Centennial PSBN's first attempt at a multi camera live performance production, and they pulled it off beautifully.
Putting on a production such as this requires a significant amount of skill and technical expertise, not to mention patience, problem solving skills, teamwork, leadership, coordination, manual labor and comradery. The crews ran all three nights completely independent of my direction. They had their own director, switcher, audio and three camera operators all three nights.
